Pre-Production Part Approval Process - PPAP Assistance

Statistical Process Control - SPC Assistance

Nearly every manufacturer today has had a customer ask them to perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) on some aspect of their parts. The most common, and easiest to perform of these controls is called the X-Bar R analysis. It involves measuring several parts manufactured consecutively and plotting the average and range of the dimension in-question into a visual chart. This then tells you when the process is in control and capable. Most of the software on the market is highly complex, does far more than this simple analysis and sells in the thousands of dollars range. While this may be useful for high volume complex manufacturing operations, the vast majority of small manufacturers need only a fraction of their features.
